Thomas Shapiro, professor of law and social policy at Brandeis University, said the “easiest answer” to narrowing racial gaps is to promote home ownership, which would help minority families accumulate wealth.
This article repeatedly makes the key point about home ownership. I cannot think of any better gift to mankind than the form of charity practiced by "Home for Humanity". I would very much like to see this strategy of helping families build homes expanded through churches around the country and the world. It is a staple of Christian tradition that the Church is a sanctuary for the threatened. Rather than keep this concept of "church as physical building", we should expand to a concept of "church as the ACT of building". Every home build through the love of church volunteers is an extension of the Church itself beyond physical boundaries.
